Ulrich Sandner was born in Padova (Italy) and currently lives in Barcelona (Spain). Musician, guitarist and composer.
Graduated at “Taller de músics” in Barcelona with a high degree in modern music and jazz, he has a style that merges blues, rock, traditional music and jazz.
He began playing the guitar at the age of 11 and played in numerous local groups until 1998, when he founded the band of tradicional music “Alì’nghiastrë” together with Sara Giovinazzi. With them he recorded three albums, “Alì’nghiastrë” (2000), “Montedidio” (2006) and “Venti buoni Motivi” (2009). In 2002, 2004 and 2006, respectively, he composed music and lyrics for three musical works inspired by literary classics: “Moby Dick – Dal Fondo del Mare”, “Don Quixote” and “Montedidio”. Until 2009 he played with various groups such as Orchextra Terrestre, Rotatorta, Abies Alba, Collettivo del Brumaio and Urlaubu, in Italy and abroad (Austria, Switzerland, Bosnia, France). He also collaborates with theater companies such as the “Escuela Experimental del Actor” (PN), “Spazio Off – Associazione Oz” (TN) and “Compagnie Teatrali Unite” (TN), acting in numerous plays.
In August 2009 he moved to Barcelona. In March 2010 he recorded his first solo album “Músicas contra el deliluvio”, released with Daruma Records. Together with percussionist David Faure he founded the acoustic music duo LENUC in 2013, alternating between duo and solo performances. With Lenuc he recorded 3 albums of original music “MIJOH” (2015), ”Madera de Calabaza” (2017) and “Funámbulo de arena” (2018).
In 2014 he recorded his second solo work, “Il vecchio mulino e il pittore pazzo” in collaboration with the italian painter Paolo Dolzan. Since 2014 he collaborates as guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with the singer-songwriter Olden, playing in his albums and in numerous live performances, both in Spain and Italy.
In 2024 his album “Home” with 10 brand new compositions is edited and published by the italian label MATERIALI SONORI, which will publish in 2025 the new work “Field – a western soundtrack”.
There are also numerous collaborations as a guitarist in the recording of musical projects by other artists (Flavio Ferri, Jordi Pèlach, Bioskope, Ottodix, Gaetano Nicosia, Talea, Codice Ego, Delta V, etc…).
He currently proposes 2 live performance projects as guitarist, all characterized by original songs with very different nuances. “The Voynich Project”, a show inspired by a mysterious medieval manuscript and “Ulrich Sandner Trio”, alternative jazz trio, with drummer Alex Carmona and bassist Francisco Garcia.
